Would you like to play a key role in Scottish education? We are looking to appoint a new Chair to the SQA.

Length of Appointment
The Chair will be appointed for a period of up to four years at the end of which the appointment may be renewed subject to satisfactory performance appraisal and the skills, knowledge and experience requirements of the Board at the time of renewal. Reappointment is not automatic.
The Chair will be required to contribute around 6 days per month to Board business (around 72 days per year). The Chair will be expected to attend and Chair all Board meetings of which there are usually seven per year. The majority of these take place on a Wednesday morning either in Glasgow or Shawfair Park, Midlothian. An indication of the sort of other Board business the Chair is expected to carry out is provided in the Main responsibilities and Chair’s responsibilities sections above.
The Chair appointment currently attracts a remuneration of £25,128 per annum and is non-pensionable. The Chair is entitled to the reimbursement of all reasonable travel and subsistence costs connected with appointment including reasonable receipted dependants’ carer costs.
Interviews will take place in Edinburgh on the afternoon of 30th May and / or 1st June 2017.
