The University of Glasgow is looking to co-opt a suitably experienced external member to serve on the University’s Court (the governing body). Understanding and experience of complex business environments, and experience of decision-making at a strategic level, are essential for this position.
Candidates should have strong entrepreneurial/commercial leadership experience, ideally to include marketing and international experience. Experience of operation at senior level in finance and/or property would also be desirable for this position.

It has more than 25,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students, an annual turnover of c£600m, including research income of c£200m, and welcomes students from more than 120 countries worldwide, with excellent ratings for student satisfaction. The successful candidate will be contributing to the University’s development at an exciting time, following the publication of the institution’s Strategic Plan for 2015-2020 and as a major reshaping of the enlarged campus begins.
Candidates will need to be able to commit 10-12 days a year, but with the option of a more substantial commitment of time, including the possibility of chairing University committees in the future. Meetings are normally held during the day.
The position is available immediately. It is non-executive and unremunerated, but expenses will be paid. The appointment will be for four years in the first instance. Candidates must not be employees or current students of the University of Glasgow.
