Member - Scottish Children's Reporter Administration

Reference:1483

Remuneration:£174.42 per day

Location:Stirling

Closing date:20 July 2018 at midday

Do you believe that the voice of children and young people should be heard? If you do, we want to hear from you.

Scottish Ministers want to appoint a new member to the Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration (SCRA) Board. The Children’s Hearings System is Scotland’s distinct approach to legal decision making for children and young people, and SCRA is at the heart of this wider system.

Along with our partner agencies, the aim is to provide a safety net for vulnerable children and young people and to deliver solutions that meet the needs of the individuals involved, while helping to build stronger families and safer communities. One of the system’s most important aspects is the recognition that children and young people who offend are often the same children and young people who require care and protection.

SCRA’s vision is that children and young people in Scotland who are vulnerable and at risk are protected and offered positive futures. This vision is underpinned by our values, which ensure the needs of children and young people are at the centre of everything we do.

We are looking for applicants who:

* are passionate about improving the lives of children and young people

* are eager to contribute to the work of SCRA and the wider Children’s Hearings System

* want to make a real contribution to the ambition of Getting it Right for Every Child; and

* have experience and knowledge of governance and accountability in public services

Full details of the criteria to be met for the position are set out in the person specification, which forms part of the application pack.
