Community Learning and Development Standards Council Scotland (CLDSC)


Appointment of Chair


Scottish Ministers are looking to appoint a new Chair of the Community Learning and Development Standards Council Scotland (CLDSC)). 


The CLDSC is unique to Scotland and is the national professional body for people who work or volunteer in Community Learning and Development (CLD).  It is a peer-led organisation that supports its members to develop their practice within and across the CLD disciplines of Youth Work, Adult Learning and Community Development, making a key contribution to the development of a skilled and productive workforce in Scotland and of high quality public services driving forward the principles set out by the Christie Commission. 


As Chair of the CLDSC you will lead on the next phase of development of this already high performing and innovative organisation.  This will see  it further strengthening its distinctive role in raising standards in CLD as the recognised professional body for CLD practitioners and developing services to registered members. The CLDSC has a pivitol role in the delivery of the Scottish Government’s strategies for education, lifelong learning and community empowerment.


The Chair will work on behalf of Ministers to ensure that the CLDSC continues to  deliver value for money and a high level of performance.


Terms of Appointment


The daily remuneration rate for this position is £282 per day  (based on a maximum of 2 days per month). You will also receive reimbursement for reasonable travel expenses and reasonable child care/carer costs incurred whilst undertaking Board duties.


The appointment is not pensionable.


This appointment will be for up to 3 years in the first instance. This appointment will be formally effective from 1st March 2019.

Interviews will be held on 13th February 2019.  All interviews will be held in Glasgow.
