APPOINTMENT OF THE CONVENER OF THE COUNCIL
APPOINTMENT FOR THREE YEARS FROM 1 SEPTEMBER 2019


Scottish Ministers are looking to fill the position of Convener of the Council of  Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).


SSSC is the regulator for the social service workforce in Scotland.  We protect the public by registering social service workers, setting standards for their practice, conduct, training and education and by supporting their professional development. Where people fall below the standards of practice and conduct we can investigate and take action.


About the Convener Role


As Convener you will provide strategic leadership and direction for the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) and be directly accountable to Scottish Ministers for its efficient and effective delivery of agreed outcomes. The overall role of the Convener, along with the members, is to ensure the SSSC fulfils the aims and objectives set by Scottish Ministers.

This position attracts a remuneration rate of £252 per day and the Convener will be expected to give a commitment of a minimum of 2 days a week on council business, some of which may be in the evenings or weekends.  As Convener you will also sit as a member on the Board of the Care Inspectorate. This is likely to require a further time commitment of around 2 days per month.
