Join the Glasgow Colleges’ Regional Board and make a difference!
Scotland’s colleges contribute £14.9bn to the Scottish economy each year, representing 8.8 per cent of the total economic output of the nation. Glasgow is the largest college region in Scotland, with over 20% of Scottish learning activity providing opportunities to around 70,000 students each year.
Glasgow Colleges’ Regional Board was established in 2014, as part of the Scottish Government’s ambitious programme of college reform, and is accountable for securing the coherent provision of high quality fundable higher and further education across the Glasgow College Region. It is also responsible for strategic planning, monitoring of performance and the allocation of funding to the colleges within the region.
Leading a new regional approach to Glasgow’s college learning, GCRB is building Scotland’s most inclusive, responsive and effective regional college system.
GCRB works with Glasgow’s three colleges, City of Glasgow College, Glasgow Clyde College and Glasgow Kelvin College, focusing on successful outcomes for our employers, 2,300 staff and 69,000 learners. Together, the region teaches more of Glasgow’s people and helps them to build their careers, develop their ambitions and strengthen the wider community and economy.
GCRB currently has a vacancy for a non-executive board member and would like to hear from applicants who can help us progress our ambitious, regional and collaborative plans.
We would welcome applicants with experience in some of the following areas: further and higher education provision including articulation and widening access, public sector governance, strategic performance management and planning, industry and commerce, financial management and public sector funding, and estates development.
GCRB seeks to be a diverse and representative board, and is keen to receive applications from members of groups currently underrepresented on public sector boards.
Board members serve on a voluntary basis, with reasonable travel expenses paid, and normally participate in around 5 Board and 5 Committee meetings each year. For more information about the GCRB please visit our website: http://www.gcrb.ac.uk
Applications will be received until Monday 13 May 2019.
