APPOINTMENTS OF NEW TRUSTEES TO THE BOARD OF THE NATIONAL GALLERIES OF SCOTLAND

Are you interested in being part of the leadership of the National Galleries of Scotland (NGS) in some exciting developments over the next four years?

If you are looking for a rewarding opportunity to join one of Scotland’s major cultural institutions then we would like to hear from you.  NGS is looking for up to four new and enthusiastic members to join its Board.

Applications are invited from a wide range of people.  Firstly, from individuals who have a particular interest in, and enthusiasm for museums and galleries and who feel they could make a positive contribution to the work of the Board; and secondly, from individuals with a more specific skills-set in accountancy who could bring and share their experience and expertise with the Board.

As a member you will be expected to play a central role in guiding the delivery of the organisation’s strategic plan and objectives.  You do not need to be an expert in art or have previous experience of being on a Board.  We are looking for people who have the capacity and commitment to grow into the role and develop their skills.

More broadly, NGS is seeking to broaden the diversity of its Board.  It is important that its Board has members from a range of geographic regions in Scotland and we actively encourage and support applications from individuals across Scotland as well as the rest of the UK.

It is anticipated that two of the four appointed members will take up post for a period of four years on 16 March 2020 with the other two members taking up post on 1 November 2020, with the possibility of re-appointment subject to effective performance.  The posts are not currently remunerated but reasonable travel and subsistence costs will be met.

For more specific details of the particular requirements for the roles, please see the Person Specification which forms part of the Information Pack for Applicants

If you would like more information about the role, or an informal discussion about it, please contact, Elaine Anderson, Head of Planning & Performance, at EAnderson@nationalgalleries.org

Closing date is Friday, 6 December 2019 (Midnight)
