At RoS, we want to ensure that we deliver for the best possible quality of service for people of Scotland. As such we are seeking suitably qualified applicants from a range of different backgrounds who can bring real diversity of thought and experience into our work and offer insight, guidance and constructive challenge to RoS on a range of issues at a strategic level.

Role Purpose
The RoS Board advises the Keeper of the Registers of Scotland in setting strategic objectives and key performance targets and evaluating strategic decisions. Our Non-Executive Directors bring an external perspective from the private, public or third sectors and contribute at a strategic level on corporate management issues, providing challenging, innovative and informed input. They are strategic thinkers with strong communication skills, who are able to pose constructive challenge in discussion and contribute to improving the performance of RoS.

About You
As a Non-Executive Director, you should have a record of achievement at Executive (or equivalent) level and an ability to work effectively as a member of a mixed executive and non-executive board and within that context have an ability to drive continuous improvement and guide RoS’s strategic direction.  We welcome applications from those for whom this would be a first non-executive role as well as those who have NED experience. 
You will be used to using your judgement to consider and challenge complex issues from an impartial and balanced viewpoint.  You will have the ability to question and challenge constructively and influence decision making within a board setting.
You will also have an understanding of corporate governance and a commitment to the principles of public service, with the highest standards of personal propriety in relation to governance, accountability, risk and financial management.

Additionally, candidates should bring skills and experience in one or more of the following areas:

•Experience in a senior HR (or other relevant) role of shaping and delivering a significant corporate restructure process and supporting the delivery of organisational change, ideally in the public sector.
•Experience of enabling an organisation to create additional value from its data, identifying opportunities to both improve existing services and deliver new services.
•Experience of delivering and embedding the benefits from large scale digital change.
