Do you have a passion for Scotland’s cultural heritage and a desire to share your skills with the National Library of Scotland?

The National Library of Scotland is looking for four new Board members to help guide the Library to its centenary in 2025.

The National Library is the largest library in Scotland, one of the pre-eminent research libraries in Europe and the major centre for the study of Scottish literature and culture. In recent years it has developed a reputation for highly innovative approaches to widening access to its collections and expanding engagement with the many diverse communities in Scotland. This remains the core theme of the Library’s strategy, ‘Reaching People’.

The Library needs Board members who reflect the many and diverse communities in Scotland and who can bring their lived experience, as well as their knowledge and expertise of their field to the Board. We are interested particularly in candidates with experience in: human resources and organisational development; finance and resource management; digital strategy; and estates and capital project development. We are ideally seeking Board members from a range of geographic regions in Scotland as well as the rest of the UK, and aim to use a range of digital technologies to assist members who live some distance from the Library to contribute to the working of the Board.

The National Library is running a series of 'drop in' onsite and online awareness sessions. Interested members of the public can meet members of the Library Board and Library staff to find out more about the Library and our Board roles.
